Do you remember when you could just buy things? With the gradual disappearance of physical media, it has become harder to really own copies of media or software. Many media and software providers now lock content away in subscription-based services, or use proprietary formats and software to ham-handedly enforce license agreements.

This website is set up with the goal of linking to online stores that provide subscription-free DRM-free purchasable digital content in common file formats.

Qobuz is a French digital music store and streaming service that offers a wide range of music across multiple genres, from pop, to metal, to classical music. Music can be purchased as downloadable CD-quality/Lossless FLAC or standard-quality MP3 files.

• Music downloads are not currently available in Latin American countries or Portugal.

Bandcamp

Bandcamp is an online music distribution platform operating from the USA that allows artists and labels to upload music and control how it is sold to consumers. Music can be downloaded in a variety of formats: MP3 V0, MP3 320, FLAC, AAC, Ogg Vorbis, ALAC, WAV, and AIFF. Artists can also choose to sell their music as CDs or in other physical formats via Bandcamp.

Presto Music

Presto Music is a UK-based ecommerce site for classical and jazz music downloads, printed music, musical books, and musical instruments. Classical and Jazz performances can be purchased as CDs, Hi-Res/Lossless or standard-quality FLAC/ALAC/WAV files, or 320 kbps MP3 files. Usually, lossless formats cost more than MP3 formats.

Manning is a USA-based book publisher specialising in computer books, videos, and projects targeting developers, engineers, system administrators, and managers. Manning provides PDF and EPUB downloads for books as well as an online "livebook" viewer.
